  • Silken won three Olympic medals during her rowing career: one silver and two bronze.
  • When asked what she would like to be if she wasn’t an athlete, Silken replied “a musician”.
  • Silken has also won civic and corporate awards, the ultimate being the Lou Marsh Award as Canada’s Outstanding Athlete of 1991.
